REDS WITH A SENSE OF HISTORY.

Greg Linn Wines 2009 Grangerville Pinot Noir

The question of low yields producing better wine has been answered long ago. For those who know us they are aware we are among the lowest yields in all of wine. This has led to some barn stormers in the form of great wines. This like all of our wines was picked early, at 1.12 tons per acre and finished alcohol in the the low 13%. The wine carries a seductive nose of high density black and red fruits. Great floral character from its whole cluster fermentation. The palate delivers this high concentration in the red and black fruit range. Forrest floor, truffles, mushrooms, anise, soy and cedar. On the finish the native acid balanced with the extraordinary fruit delivers for minutes and prompts you to do it all over again. Amazing! 100 Cases Produced

Greg Linn Wines 2009 Ancient Ocean Pinot Noir

So here's the thing we have had many wines that have had a great nose, great middle and finish. However it's when we find something unique, something we have not had before, that's when I get amped up and find exhilaration. On the nose this wine has a background of sweet red fruits, floral characters and a hint of citrus. We have never produced a greater mouth feel. On the pallet it gives you tangerine peal, red and black fruit, black licorice, truffles, and forest floor. The finish on the wine is where you know we had something different, almost a tangerine slice dipped in coco. What a combo! To think we were just trying to make a Pinot Noir. But isn't that the point, this amazing grape never stops impressing me with its uncanny ability to become something different. 200 Cases Produced

Greg Linn Wines 2009 Howling Meritage

We have made great Syrah in the past and those wines have been judged highly with average scoring above 94 points. So why blend what little syrah we have? Good question and here's the answer because I choose too! I wanted something that had an equal structure, but could enjoy earlier. Not to say it will not age because all the stuffing is there. This wine will give more enjoyment earlier, must be the pinot lover in me. So here it is dark color, great floral spicy nose with hints of smoke. On the pallet it oozes with black fruit, hints of red fruit, tar, cedar, pepper, chocolate, spice, grilled meats and a touch of sweetness. The finish is long and will bring you full circle. The native yeast, acid and fruit make for an enticing wine to make you forget those boring cabernets. Unlike Syrah you don't have to work to drink this wine, it's a sheer pleasure. Pick up some grilled lamb chops, steak or stew and go for it! A triumph! 200 cases produced Syrah, Petite Syrah and Zinfandel

Greg Linn Wines 2007 Grangerville Pinot Noir

So take the Le Bon Climat and turn it upside down and you have Grangerville, very exciting stuff. Instead of the fruits in your face on the nose, herbs, truffles, bay leaf, tangerine peel, soy, cola, forest floor, dill weed, evergreen, slate, black tea, cola, soy and earth. The fruit is also there but reveals itself as an accent early on and comes forward the longer the wine remains open, three days later in some experiments, On the Palate you get tobacco, dill weed, mushrooms, truffles, forest floor, black tea, black licorice, clove, minerals, smoke, spicy red and black fruits. Again with all the fruits in the background. Color is medium to dark, purple, black. The palate is silk and the finish is extraordinary, with pure acid it's clean but lingers for several minutes with great ripe tannins. Maybe our greatest triumph of 100% whole cluster fermentation and maybe our greatest wine. 400 cases. 20 years plus. 13.3% ALC.

Greg Linn Wines 2007 Hudson Pinot Noir

Our last year working with Carneros and the great Lee Hudson Vineyard. Logistically very tough. A great Carneros offering and drinking much more forward then any of the other Pinots in the stable. This wine booms of fruit almost reminiscent of Sonoma Coast Darker in it's approach with a more then medium color of red black. The noise is tobacco, black cherry, tar, rose petal. On the palate a medium weight, reveals more black cherry, smoke, black raspberry, tree bark, and minerals. Soon followed by a very long finish that goes on for minutes and velvety texture. 150 cases produced. 13.6%
